Completed Joy Part 1:

Philippians 1:1-11

Paul is writing from where? Prison

Philippians is a deeper call to: Ministry, Maturity in the Word and Partnership

Paul’s desire is that the Philippians grow further in their faith

The Philippians are to grow deeper in what two areas? Love and Knowledge/Discernment

Completed Joy Part 2:

Philippians 1:12-27

One of the primary themes of the book of Philippians is?........................

Paul understand that to live is…………… and to die is………….. Why would this be?

What are Paul’s instructions for the Philippians at the end of the passage?

Pastoral Thought: If it is ever granted to me that I would be martyred for the faith I want to go out like Polycarp. His final words were to invite the Roman Pro-Counsel to a private meeting, not so he could stay his execution, but so that he could preach the Gospel to him. I want to go out preaching and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Will you join me in that? Come what may? Will you share the good news with your neighbor, will you take the long road and bring as many with you into glory as possible?

Proverbs 3:9-10:

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all

your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, Our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body

and the life everlasting. Amen.
